What do we believe at Meadow Grove Baptist Church?

The most important aspect of anyone’s belief system is found in the foundation upon which they choose to build.  The foundation that Meadow Grove has chosen to build upon was not cement, steel or sand.  Our foundation was built upon “a rock that was cut without hands”.  It is the same rock that traveled with the Children of Israel during their wilderness wanderings.  It is the same rock that existed before space and time began who spoke this universe into existence.

What rock is this? “He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed [it] unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:15-18).  "This rock" refers to Peter's response, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."  Our cornerstone at Meadow Grove is that Jesus Chris is the Son of God.

Our foundation is built upon the following earth shaking facts:

·Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God who pre-existed time, space, matter, and energy and spoke this universe into existence

·We believe that Jesus is 100% God and 100% man.

·We believe that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, died for the sins of all mankind, was buried and rose from the dead on the third day, and is alive today.

·We believe that Jesus Christ will return to this earth to execute judgment on those who rejected Him as King of Kings and Lord of lords and will rule and reign from the throne of David.

·We believe that Jesus Christ is “the way, the truth and the life, and NO MAN COMES TO THE FATHER (get to heaven) EXCEPT THROUGH ME”. There is only one way to get to heaven—Accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life.

Concerning the Trinity…

·We believe in one God, who has no beginning or end, existent in three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit

Concerning the Bible…

·We believe that both the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God.

·We believe that the Bible is inerrant (without error) and is the supreme and final authority in matters of faith and life.  Through the illumination of the Holy Spirit, the Bible is alive and it is our compass that navigates us through this difficult life.

·We believe that the Bible has given us everything we need to live a healthy, happy and fulfilling life here on earth.  It is an instruction manual that details how one can live a victorious and Godly life here on earth.

Concerning Man

·We believe that we were created in the very image of God.

·Man chose to reject God through sin causing all of mankind to inherit both physical and spiritual death.  Furthermore, we believe that man is unable to rectify this situation by his/her own means.

·We believe that God became man in the form of Jesus Christ and lived a sinless and perfect life that completely pleased His Father.  And that He died for our sins on a cross bearing the judgment due to man on His shoulders.

·He bore the judgment required by God to cleanse man from sin.  Therefore, when we accept Jesus Christ as our personal savior and Lord, we are justified in the eyes of our Holy God.

·We believe we are justified through faith in the completed work of Jesus Christ alone.  We can never be “good enough” to get to heaven apart from the saving blood of Jesus Christ.

Concerning Ordinances

       Baptism

·Once a person accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives, we believe that person should be baptized by immersion.

·This baptism is a testimony to the world that one has died to an old way of living and become a new creation in Christ.

       The Lord’s Supper

·We observe the Lord’s Supper as a memorial to the completed work of Jesus Christ.  The Bread is a reminder that He gave His body for us and died in our place to satisfy the will of the Father.

·The wine (grape juice) is a sobering reminder of the price Christ paid for the sin we do.  “Without the shedding of blood, sin can’t be forgiven”.  We are reminded that Christ shed His perfect blood as payment for our imperfect, sinful lives.

·Both of these ordinances are celebrations and a constant reminder of just how much God loves every human soul.

How did you get here?

·You were not an accident

·You were not the result of a process of millions of years of random chance.

·You were designed for a purpose by a creator who loves you so much that He gave His life for you

·You see, in the Beginning God….And when the last curtain falls, God is….Put your trust in the “I AM” who alone knows the end from the beginning who has promised to never leave or forsake you.

“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.  And he said to me, Write:  for these words are true and faithful.  And he said to me, It is done.  I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.  I will give to him that is thirsty of the fountain of the water of life freely.  He that overcomes shall inherit all things; and I WILL BE HIS GOD, AND HE SHALL BE MY SON.  (Revelation 21:5-7)
