Curtis Carter

Minister of Music & Senior Adults

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."   (Ephesians 2:10, KJV)

My life's mission is to balance worship, work and witness as expressed in the hymn To Worship, Work and Witness  (Lambdin, 1969)

To worship, work and witness, the Good News spread abroad; we magnify Thy mission, Church of the Living God....Be thine thy Master's purpose, to seek and save the lost...to love and lift the lowly...to take up other's burdens and bear them as thy own.

I have been on staff at Meadow Grove since 1997, first as part-time minister of music, then as full-time associate pastor/minister of music. Currently, I serve as minister of music and senior adults.

In addition to ministering to the needs of our church family, I lead our sanctuary choir and orchestra during our traditional morning and evening worship services and oversee senior adult events and outings. I lead a weekly worship service at a local rehabilitation nursing facility and collaborate with other churches and local musicians to reach out to our community.

My wife, Sheri, a retired public school teacher, and I are blessed to be the parents of Michael and Amanda Brewer, also members of Meadow Grove, and grandparents of our granddaughter, Price.

A Port Gibson native, I graduated from William Carey University and completed a seminary extension church music course, which I later helped teach. I am a member of the Mississippi Singing Churchmen; I have served at music and worship conferences in several states; and I have worked with Mississippi Baptist children music camps and the Mississippi All-State Youth Choir and Orchestra.

I seek to help others recognize their value to God. We were created by Him and for Him. We need to be wise stewards of all God has entrusted to us as we serve Him. When our church "meeting" ends, our "service" begins!

"For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." (I Corinthians 6:20, KJV)
